Living Skies Private Patron Circle:
What you helped begin—and what comes next
You may read the update below, and/or listen to here by pressing play above.
Living Skies began with a conviction: that the place and people who formed me deserve a substantial artistic expression.
Your support helped give that conviction a real, working life. Thank you - I'm incredibly grateful to all of you.
The project has now moved from plans into recorded & released music, small gatherings, and conversations that are opening its next chapter.
I wanted to share what has taken shape so far.
A growing body of work around Saskatchewan
The Living Skies album is complete and released.
Later this October, I’ll be sending you a special patron-exclusive download package of the album with some more personal pieces about my process in creating it.
In Saskatchewan when I was home in September, I also held a small initial house concert with dear friends and patrons: a first, intimate test of bringing the music and its stories into a room together.
Many of you don't know this, but I have barely performed live since before the virus shut downs! I've been very busy creating and releasing an enormous volume of creative work throughout these years, but it has been seriously wonderful to step back into live performing again.
I am now also in the process of planning more of these shows in Southern California to share the story of Saskatchewan with a broader audience.
I'm finding that people are responding very strongly. In artistic work, the focused particular is often the most universally powerful, and many people are finding a resonance with their own sense of home and history as I share about mine.
Canticles has also been released, carrying the sacred music portion of the project.
I was involved in an amazing children's choir in Saskatchewan growing up, which formed me deeply in sacred music, so releasing my own compositions is an important full-circle moment.
For the pop portion of my work, Literati I is forthcoming in November. This completes the planned music release portion and bringing its relevant literary interests into another musical form.
As a related extra, I will also be releasing CROWD PLEASER, a mostly-live album of Joni Mitchell covers with a few related originals, shortly after.
All of these creative pieces are fitting beautifully into the whole.
Alongside the recordings, I’ve had in-depth meetings with publishers and significant Saskatchewan cultural figures. I’m also in conversation with American literary circles who have responded warmly to the project’s literary dimension, and am in partnership conversations about my Art Episodes as a growing resource. The Kaleidoscope membership materials are growing.
These conversations are helping me understand where this work can best find a home, whom it can best serve, and how its different parts can develop together.
I hope to include the finished Living Skies project in an educational framework inside the Kaleidoscope membership some time in 2027.
The next chapter: a memoir as a lens
The next major phase is the writing.
I’m developing a memoir that uses my own experience as a lens through which to explore Saskatchewan: its people, its artistic inheritance, its history, and the relationships between place, ambition, business, and artistry.
I’ve been working on vignettes of remarkable Saskatchewan figures, including Joni Mitchell, alongside people in my own circles whose gifts and accomplishments have shaped my understanding of greatness.
Some are widely known. Others deserve to be known much more deeply. My conversations are helping me discover some of these stories.
My hope is to bring these lives to others as I write: to explore what a place gives to its people, what they can make of that inheritance for themselves and the world, and what they become capable of sharing with the world.
Music, history, faith, culture, literature, enterprise, and personal memory all belong within that story.
Help me carry it forward
Your earlier support helped bring the project to this point. I am so grateful, and I'm excited to bring you all into Phase II with me now.
Through the private patron list and your access to the two existing membership spaces, I’ll continue sharing occasional letters, unfinished excerpts, early recordings, and glimpses of the creative process that aren’t shared publicly.
Any continued patronage is not required to stay involved but will help give me the time and practical room to write the memoir, develop the vignettes, and follow through on the relationships now forming around the work.
This next phase needs sustained attention: time to write, revise, research, and shape the material into something worthy of its subjects.
If you would like to renew your support—or deepen your involvement today—I would be deeply grateful. Your generosity makes a real and tangible difference for me.
Either way, it's been a joy to be traveling with you in this, and I’m looking so forward to sharing this next chapter with you.
